We continue to introduce you to Kazakhstani startups. «ApartX» is a relatively low-cost application for short-term property rental. It allows landlords to manage their properties remotely and enables tenants to quickly find options without unnecessary conversations or third-party interference. Additionally, the startup is a finalist of the first cohort of the Kazakhstan Digital Accelerator. The main source of revenue is the subscription fee for using the application. The founder of the project is Kanat Keldibekov.

????How it works for landlords:

1. Receive and install the lock (the lock can be purchased or rented);

2. Set the code and its validity period through the application;

3. Provide the code to the tenant. After the specified time has elapsed, the code becomes deactivated and can no longer be used to open the door.

For clients, everything is simple: find an apartment based on criteria on the map, enter the necessary information, pay, and receive a booking.

????Advantages over foreign competitors:

☑️No dependency on a specific manufacturer; the application connects to 80% of locks;

☑️Using video calls and artificial intelligence technology, the process of handing over and monitoring the property is fully automated;

☑️Payment processing, contract signing, furniture and appliance security, and a personal identification system are available;

☑️The application automatically synchronizes property occupancy rates across rental platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.

From a technological perspective, the concept of a smart lock is relatively simple. Nevertheless, clear benefits emerge from its use, both economic and functional. Although similar systems are already used abroad, the adaptation of this project seemed no less interesting. This is especially true given the addition of new functionality that will allow for nearly complete automation of the apartment rental process.

If the reliability of the code is more or less clear, questions remain regarding the lock's resistance to common break-ins: «Will the «smart lock» withstand a burglar?». There are also doubts about whether there is sufficient demand specifically in the Kazakhstani market. After all, short-term rentals are not as popular here as in foreign countries, especially among tourists. To be frank, while tourism in Kazakhstan is growing, it is doing so very slowly. Moreover, tourists often choose hotels or hostels.

Given these premises, it makes sense to scale into popular tourist regions. The first step in this direction has been taken: the application has found resonance in Moscow. Regarding the Kazakhstani market, we believe it is worth focusing on long-term rental properties and offering a modified version of the application for entrepreneurs in this sector.
