Yandex Kazakhstan and Astana Medical University will launch new projects in the field of healthcare in Kazakhstan.

Yandex Qazaqstan and Astana Medical University have agreed to launch medical projects based on the Yandex Cloud platform. Among the initiatives are projects for automated lung cancer screening, predicting measles incidence using machine learning technologies, and others. All developments will be tested not only at the university but also in clinics across the country.

As part of the partnership, the company will assist the university with project management and provide infrastructure for development. For example, Yandex Cloud will allocate a grant for cloud resources for the epidemic forecasting project. Within the framework of the initiative, two machine learning models will be developed: one will predict the spread of infections, particularly measles, and the other will calculate the potential load on the healthcare system. The framework agreement was signed by Arystanbek Joldasbekov, General Director of Yandex Cloud in Kazakhstan, and Kamalzhan Nadyrov, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Astana Medical University.

Yandex Cloud continues to expand its program supporting education and science in the field of Computer Science in Kazakhstan: KBTU, Nazarbayev University, Astana IT University, and others are already collaborating with the platform. Universities in Kazakhstan can use cloud services for educational research in artificial intelligence and other areas for free. This will help educational organizations increase the number of machine learning programs and improve their quality.
