The parties plan to collaborate on joint R&D projects in the field of computer vision and local AI.
As part of the international forum AI & Digital Bridge 2026, an official presentation of Qazaq AI Research University and Lenovo AI Class took place — a joint educational and research platform for the development, testing, and practical application of artificial intelligence technologies in education.
Qazaq AI Research University was established by order of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as a specialized research university in the field of artificial intelligence. It was launched as part of systematic efforts to develop the national AI ecosystem and prepare a new generation of specialists in machine learning, data analysis, and technological entrepreneurship.
The concept of the AI Research University was previously presented to the head of state at the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Alem.ai. The university is integrated with Kazakhstan’s national AI infrastructure and provides students and researchers with access to modern computing resources, including supercomputing capabilities, the alem.cloud platform, the national language model AlemLLM, and the Alem.ai ecosystem.
During the official presentation of the university at AI & Digital Bridge 2026, the Lenovo AI Class was also introduced — a specialized educational and research classroom created by Lenovo in collaboration with QAIRU. It will serve as a “living laboratory” where advanced technologies will not only be studied but also directly applied in the educational process. The facility will be used for training, research, development, and testing of new solutions and will be available for various educational and research directions of the university.
One of the key areas of work will be investigating the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance educational efficiency, develop personalized learning approaches, and create more objective feedback tools.
The project reflects Lenovo’s global strategy to develop hybrid artificial intelligence and create industry-specific AI solutions for education, business, and the public sector. The company views the education sector as one of the key segments where new technologies can significantly improve the accessibility and quality of learning.
Lenovo AI Solutions for Education
Within the framework of Lenovo AI Class, two Lenovo solutions are presented:
AI-Powered Smart Education & Classroom Intelligence Platform — a platform for video and audio analytics of the educational process. The solution enables analysis of lesson content and various parameters of the educational process, generating data and recommendations that can be used to further improve teaching quality.
Lenovo AI-Powered Smart University — a comprehensive platform for the digital transformation of the university, including intelligent assistants for teachers and students, AI kiosks, personalized learning tools, and integration with LMS and internal university systems. The solution can be deployed in a secure local or private cloud infrastructure, ensuring data control and automation of academic and administrative processes.
To support Lenovo technologies, the new classroom has been equipped with specialized infrastructure, including a Lenovo ThinkStation PGX computer, a monitor, an interactive panel, and two video cameras, which will be utilized in the operation of the AI-Powered Smart Education & Classroom Intelligence Platform.
Representatives of Lenovo’s management attended the presentation of QAIRU and Lenovo AI Class: Marin Raberin, Director of the Public Sector & Education Lenovo business unit for Europe and META regions; Alnur Ermagambetov, General Manager of Lenovo for Eastern Europe and Central Asia; Askar Zhadraev, Head of Corporate Sales for Lenovo in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
From AI Class to Joint Educational Technologies
Lenovo AI Class is part of a broader strategic partnership between QAIRU and Lenovo. The parties plan to expand cooperation in the fields of computer vision and speech analytics, local and private AI, educational data analysis, model localization, joint R&D projects, and the development of AI scenarios for students, teachers, and university administration.
As part of the collaboration, Lenovo provides technological expertise, hardware infrastructure, and AI solutions, while QAIRU ensures their adaptation to the educational environment, development of evaluation methodologies, and testing of technologies in real educational processes.
The strategic goal of the partnership is to go beyond a single AI class and create a joint model for applying artificial intelligence in education. Solutions and scenarios tested at QAIRU can later be scaled to other educational institutions in Kazakhstan and beyond.
Lenovo AI Class becomes part of a broader AI ecosystem of QAIRU, integrating education, research, development, and the practical application of technologies.
