On October 15, Tesla unveiled the second-generation Roadster featuring air-compressed engines from SpaceX. The vehicle is equipped with 10 engines and 600-liter tanks, enabling it to take off and maneuver in the air. Three versions are available: Performance, Thrust, and Rocket. The driving range is approximately 480 km, with a top speed exceeding 370 km/h. Production will begin in 2028.
Tesla has unveiled the second generation of the Roadster sports car. The new model is equipped with compressed air engines developed using SpaceX technology, enabling the vehicle to lift off the ground, jump over obstacles, and land smoothly back on the road.
The presentation took place on October 15 in Texas. During the show, the Roadster drove onto an inverted ramp, performed a mid-air turn, and landed softly on the asphalt. The car then flew over other Tesla models—Cybercab, Cybertruck, Tesla Semi, Model Y, and Model 3—using its engines.
The vehicle is lifted and rotated in the air by 10 small engines. They operate on compressed air stored in tanks with a total volume of 600 liters, which can be refilled. Additionally, the car features a fan system that "sucks" the vehicle onto the surface, allowing it to drive even upside down.
Tesla will release the Roadster in three versions. The Performance is a two-seater model designed for regular roads. The Thrust is a two-seater racing version with rear-mounted engines, capable of accelerating from 0 to 96 km/h in less than one second. The Rocket is a single-seater version with 10 engines distributed across the body, designed for flight. All versions will have a range of approximately 480 km and a top speed of over 370 km/h.
Pre-orders are now available on the Tesla website. The reservation fee for the Performance version is $50,000, and for the Thrust version, it is $250,000. The Rocket version is available only by invitation. Final prices have not yet been announced. Production of the new Roadster is scheduled to begin in 2028.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk called the new Roadster the best car driven by humans in recent years. The designers drew inspiration from the SR-71 and F-35 aircraft for the car's design.
