In recent years, the sector has demonstrated high growth dynamics, with an increasing number of professionals employed and services provided. Specifically, while there were 147 IT companies in Uzbekistan in 2017, their number is now approaching 2,000. These companies provide well-paid employment for 30,000 people. Additionally, over 70,000 young people are engaged in IT independently.
To promote the development of the industry in remote regions as well, the creation of IT towns is planned.
The towns will initially be established in fifteen regions: Chimboy, Gijduvan, Zomin, Sharaf Rashidov, Farish, Khatyrchi, Pap, Shakhrisabz, Kushrabat, Sariasiya, Syr Darya, Parkent, Tashlak, Tuprokkala districts, and the city of Khanabad. Each year, approximately 10,000 young people will receive free training in IT, foreign languages, and other modern professions at these towns.
The towns will be conveniently located for young people and will have teaching staff consisting of highly qualified specialists.
In advanced countries, startups are widely supported to foster the development of the IT industry. Competitions for such projects are also held in the country. At the same time, it is necessary to increase their transparency and allocate grants based on project performance.
