The IT4Everyone project has launched in Uzbekistan with the goal of addressing information accessibility issues for people with hearing impairments in Central Asia. The project is implemented by the IT Academy in partnership with the Uzbek Society of the Deaf, the Kyrgyz Society of the Blind and Deaf, the Almaty branch of the Kazakh Society of the Deaf, and with the support of the USAID project for entrepreneurship and business environment development.
As part of the IT4Everyone project, people with hearing impairments can learn an IT profession for free, master the skills of promoting their business through the internet and social media, and, most importantly, work remotely, which is considered a significant advantage for them.
For the first stage of the project, 148 applications were received from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, from which 115 participants were ultimately selected.
The top 25 graduates of the pilot stream participated in the second stage of the IT4Everyone project. On June 24, an offline launch ceremony for the second stage of the project took place in Uzbekistan, which included a tour of IT companies and an IT camp with intensive sessions. The next stage is a paid internship with the opportunity for employment.
The project was tested in pilot mode and demonstrated its significance, relevance, and special interest among people with hearing impairments. Today, the project is available to everyone as the IT4Everyone educational platform. The platform features video lessons adapted into sign language, intermediate and final tests, as well as a coursework assignment that will be reviewed by our moderators. A certificate will be issued based on the results of the final test and coursework.
