An alternative to Starlink will appear in Uzbekistan — Project Kuiper from Amazon
Author - Mansur Ismagulov
Amazon and the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan have signed a memorandum of understanding, which involves cooperation in developing the country's digital infrastructure. One of the areas will be the launch of satellite internet Project Kuiper, which is expected to provide residents with high-speed connectivity—up to 400 Mbit/s, with the potential for growth up to 1 Gbit/s.
For the network to operate in Uzbekistan, approximately 12 ground stations are planned to be built. Amazon has already started implementing the project: the first test satellites have been launched, and the first batch of 27 satellites has already been placed into orbit.
If the agreement is implemented, Uzbekistan will become one of the first countries in the region to have an alternative to Starlink—a satellite internet service that is already operational in Kazakhstan.
