From March 11 to 14, the Women Empowerment Week in Tech — a four-day educational initiative aimed at supporting young women aspiring to build careers in IT and the digital sector — took place at the School 21 campus in Samarkand. The project was organized by the School of Digital Technologies School 21 with the support of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
A total of over 400 applications were submitted for the project, and 50 of the most motivated participants were selected from 12 regions of Uzbekistan. The young women were provided with full support, including meals, accommodation in the dormitory, and access to computers for completing the educational program.
The program focused on the career development of young women in IT, as well as the development of soft skills such as psychology, leadership, and communication. On the first day, participants worked on overcoming internal barriers that hinder confident entry into the job market, learned to understand their own needs, manage stress, and develop positive mindsets for professional growth. Over the next three days, the young women attended seminars and workshops led by leading industry experts, including specialists from TBC, payme, Group-IB, and Women in Tech. They gained knowledge in project and product management, explored how to find IT freelance orders on freelance platforms, created strong resumes and portfolios for entering the job market, and received personalized feedback on their resumes from experts.
In addition to the educational component, participants were introduced to the cultural heritage of Samarkand — organizers conducted a tour of the city's historical landmarks, which served as a pleasant conclusion to the intensive program.
The School 21 community offers a unique opportunity to gain a sought-after profession for free and become part of a community that supports and develops its members. The next selection "pools" in Tashkent and Samarkand will begin on June 2.
