In Samarkand, the signing of the Samarkand Declaration on Technological Diplomacy took place — the first international document that launched a global initiative to shape an ethical and inclusive digital policy.
The Declaration was developed by the Institute of Technological Diplomacy in collaboration with UNESCO and aims to ensure that all countries have equal opportunities to participate in shaping the digital future. It emphasizes the importance of cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data protection, and technology governance.
Signatories committed to appointing "technology ambassadors," enhancing international cooperation, and integrating technology issues into foreign policy. The document envisions the launch of pilot projects and knowledge-sharing platforms among countries.
The Samarkand Declaration will serve as the foundation for a global movement in technological diplomacy: its dissemination across regions is planned by 2027, with universal adoption targeted for 2030.
The initiative strengthens the role of Central Asia as a new hub for international cooperation in digital technologies and highlights the growing significance of the region on the global technology map.
