A universal agent from OpenAI has appeared in ChatGPT

OpenAI introduces a new universal AI agent in ChatGPT, capable of performing a wide range of computer tasks on behalf of the user. The new agent can manage calendars, create presentations and slide shows, and run code.

The tool, called the ChatGPT Agent, combines features from OpenAI's previous developments: it can navigate websites and use the Deep Research capability to collect and analyze information from dozens of sources, presenting it as a concise analytical report. Interaction with the agent occurs through natural language queries in the ChatGPT interface.

Examples of its use include organizing and purchasing groceries for a Japanese breakfast for four, as well as analyzing competitors and subsequently creating a presentation. To perform such tasks, the agent must not only analyze websites but also plan actions, utilizing tools—making it significantly more advanced compared to OpenAI's previous solutions.

The ChatGPT Agent will be available to subscribers of OpenAI's Pro, Plus, and Team plans. To activate it, simply select "agent mode" from the ChatGPT tools dropdown menu.
