TƏBİB — the Medical Territorial Units Management Union — has announced the creation of an innovative center for robotic surgery at the Yeni Klinika clinic. As reported by the organization’s executive director, Vugar Gurbanov, the center is planned to open by the end of the current year.
The main goal of the project is to give citizens of Azerbaijan the opportunity to undergo complex surgical operations using robotic systems within the country, without the need to travel abroad. Work on the creation of the center is already underway, and the process will be completed on schedule.
Robotic surgery allows for increased precision in operations, reduced trauma, and shorter hospital stays for patients. The introduction of such technologies in Azerbaijan is seen as a step toward modernizing the national healthcare system and potentially developing medical tourism.
Previously, robotic surgeries had already been performed in the country — a Chinese-made robot-assisted system was installed at the National Oncology Center, through which the first laparoscopic surgery was conducted. Yeni Klinika is also developing other high-tech areas, including complex cardiovascular interventions and neurosurgery.
The opening of the center will require the training of specialists, ensuring service support for the equipment, and implementing modern medical standards.
