In Astana, the opening of the finals of the most prestigious programming competition in the world — ICPC World Finals 2024 — has begun

The grand opening ceremony of the finals of the most prestigious global student programming competition, ICPC World Finals 2024, was held at the Presidential Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This grand event annually brings together the best programming teams from around the world.

In the 2023 ICPC World Finals, held in Luxor, Egypt, six teams from Kazakhstan participated, and Kazakh programmer Batyr Sardarbekov won a gold medal, becoming the first ICPC champion in the history of our country. This year, out of 59,000 participants representing 111 countries and 3,000 universities who successfully passed the regional and national selection stages, 142 teams advanced to the finals. Kazakhstan will be represented by five teams from the country's leading technical universities. This event will be an important step for Kazakhstan in strengthening its status as a key IT hub in Central Asia.

The champions of the 2024 ICPC World Finals will be announced on September 19, following the conclusion of the five-hour finals, where contestants solve algorithmic problems using code under time constraints, aiming for the minimum number of errors and incorrect submissions.
