Meta has released an update for its AI glasses that allows users to hear conversation partners better in noisy environments.
The new feature is called Conversation Focus. It uses built-in microphones and artificial intelligence algorithms to isolate the voice of the person the user is talking to and reduce background noise. This should make communication easier in cafes, on public transport, at events, and in other crowded places.
The speech enhancement level can be adjusted using touch gestures on the glasses' temples or through the device settings. Sound is transmitted through built-in open-back speakers, so users do not need to wear headphones.
The feature is part of software update version v21 and is initially available to participants in the Early Access Program. The update supports Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN models, with the rollout beginning in the United States and Canada.
In addition to improving conversation clarity, Meta has also expanded the capabilities of its AI glasses by integrating them with Spotify. The glasses can select and play music based on visual context and the user's voice commands.
