Tarlan Payments has completed the acquisition of the Kazakh FoodTech platform Gourmet, which will be renamed Gourmet by Tarlan. The service will integrate with banking applications for table reservations and direct food payment. By the end of 2025, 150 establishments are planned to be connected, and by 2026, at least 250. It is projected to process orders worth over 60 billion tenge in the first year and attract more than 600,000 users.
FinTech company Tarlan Payments announced the completion of the acquisition of the Kazakh FoodTech platform Gourmet. The service allows users to book tables, pre-order and pay for food directly within mobile banking applications, as well as take advantage of cashback and loyalty programs. Cooperation with banks in Kazakhstan and Europe is planned.
Gourmet is focused on the full-service restaurant segment. The integration of the service is part of Tarlan's strategy to develop the Banking-as-a-Platform format, under which the bank becomes an entry point into everyday digital services. As part of the integration, bank users will be able to pay at restaurants without leaving their banking apps, with additional cashback and discounts, while banks will gain deeper insights into their users' preferences.
At the time of the deal, the service was integrated with more than 20 restaurants in Almaty and Astana. By the end of 2025, it is planned to connect 150 establishments in various cities across the country, and in 2026 — at least 250, including international chains. According to forecasts, through banking apps using Gourmet, orders worth over 60 billion tenge will be processed within the first year, and significantly more in the future as new banks and regions are connected. The expected number of platform users is more than 600,000 per year.
As a result of the deal, the service will be renamed Gourmet by Tarlan. The product will continue to develop under the leadership of its founders — Serikbolsyn Mustafin, CEO, and Chingiz Jakubaliev, CTO.
Gourmet by Tarlan will address several market problems simultaneously: high aggregator commissions, low engagement of banking app users, and limited digital capabilities of restaurants themselves. The platform provides direct integration between banks and restaurants, offering the latter access to a solvent audience and automated marketing and loyalty tools.
Currently, the Kazakh market features services from major HoReCa players offering digital solutions for the restaurant business. However, Gourmet by Tarlan will become the first solution that integrates restaurant services directly into banking apps, forming a fundamentally new approach to the interaction between banks and the restaurant sector. This allows bypassing traditional intermediaries and creating a direct channel between financial institutions and food service establishments.
Gourmet became the first element of the company's ecosystem FinTech direction. In the future, the line of solutions for banks under the Banking-as-a-Platform model will expand. The company is preparing the integration of other services — from marketplaces and products to city and infrastructure services.
