Modem Studio has unveiled a device that turns dreams into videos

Modem, a well-known design laboratory, has announced the launch of the Dream Recorder project — a compact device that visualizes human dreams based on their oral description.
After waking up, the user simply tells the device their dream — in any language — and the device uses AI to transform the description into an "ultra-low-quality," stylized video sketch. The visualization is intentionally "blurred" and abstract to convey the atmosphere of the dream rather than a literal reconstruction.
The device stores up to seven dreams — one for each day of the week — so you can review them later and reflect on their content.
The project follows a do-it-yourself principle: all schematics, source code, and case design are published openly on GitHub. The user only needs to assemble the device from ready-made parts.
According to one of Modem's co-founders, Bas van de Poel, tools are emerging that can tangibly shape the subconscious. The project is aimed less at commercialization and more at exploring the boundaries of perception and interaction with the inner world.
The project has already attracted interest in both the design and technology spheres: some media outlets note a shift from a "quantitative" assessment of dreams to a "qualitative," creative perception and reflection of nocturnal consciousness.
