Sony has officially announced the discontinuation of all Blu-ray disc models starting in February 2025. In the same month, production of other physical media formats, including MiniDiscs, MD Data discs, and Mini DV cassettes, will also cease. The company confirmed that there will be no successors for these products. The decline in demand is attributed to the widespread adoption of streaming services and the increasing availability of higher-capacity digital storage media.
