The project for integrating information systems for registering newborn children, developed under the "Government Accelerators" initiative, has been included among the 20 best global digital initiatives according to the international SDG Digital Game Changers competition.
The project was initiated by the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic in May 2024 and actively supported by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic. Its goal is to ensure full documentation of newborns. Now, information about births is transmitted directly from maternity hospitals to the MCR, and if parents do not apply for a birth certificate within 60 days, social workers receive a notification and provide assistance with registration.
Since the launch of the project, 600 out of 1200 children who were not registered on time have already received birth certificates, and work on the remaining cases continues.
The application for participation in the SDG Digital Game Changers competition, submitted by the MCR in August 2024, received recognition among 1180 projects. Kyrgyzstan took first place in the "World" category, surpassing projects from Poland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil.
The award ceremony will take place at the SDG Digital event on September 20-21, 2024, in New York.
