The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, together with government agencies and the startup Alaqan Technologies, is implementing a pilot project for biometric verification using the Alaqan palm print system in government institutions. This project aims to enhance the safety of children in schools and kindergartens, control employee access to government institutions, and prevent the misuse of budget funds.
Currently, the Alaqan system is installed in the Shymkent Akimat on a pilot basis, at NAO "Government for Citizens," as well as in several schools and kindergartens. The goal of this technology is to protect the rights and safety of children, register employee entry and exit, and identify fictitious records that may lead to excessive budget expenditures.
As of today, the project covers 91 schools in the Akmola region and 68 schools in the Aktobe region. It is also being implemented on a pilot basis in one school each in the West Kazakhstan, Turkistan, and Karaganda regions. Over the next two years, the system is planned to be installed in 150 schools in the Karaganda region.
Additionally, as part of the "ArtSport" and "Darabala" projects, the Alaqan system is already successfully being used to track attendance at 19 additional education facilities in Kokshetau. As a result of its implementation since March of this year, savings on budget funds have exceeded 60 million tenge.
To date, more than 124,000 schoolchildren and approximately 10,000 school employees are registered in the system. Given the positive results, there is consideration for expanding the project to strategically important facilities.
