About Me
I am from Uzbekistan and have over 10 years of experience in the finance industry. In 2021, I received a Fulbright scholarship and completed my MBA at the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester. After graduating, I joined Datatruck, Inc., where I currently serve as co-founder.
The idea for Datatruck emerged from my personal experience with inefficiencies in the US trucking industry. Small and medium-sized transportation companies still relied heavily on manual operations, schedules, and paper processes. They calculated financial and management reports manually or did not know how to do it at all, resulting in an average loss of approximately $50,000 per year for a typical transportation company. At the same time, they often did not realize these losses.
Together with my technical co-founders, we saw a clear opportunity to implement automation for such companies and ensure transparent financial data in real-time.
The Team
After assembling our team and finding co-founders and advisors, we began looking for investors. On our 10th pitch, a friend believed in our idea even without an MVP and invested, which allowed us to raise $200,000 in the angel investment round.
At the beginning, we focused heavily on customer research—communicating with transportation company owners, dispatchers, and drivers to better understand their problems. Then we launched a simple MVP, tested our core hypotheses, and began attracting users through networking, the diaspora, direct contacts, industry events, and referrals.
The team was formed around a mission: we sought people who understood the industry, adapted quickly, and wanted to create a truly impactful product. Our goal was to save every carrier money and time, as well as help them gain financial literacy.
Our first engineers were versatile and ready for any challenges—each went beyond their job descriptions, taking on various roles.
Target Audience
Our main customers are small and medium-sized transportation companies in the US that manage between 5 and 200 trucks. Datatruck is a financial operating system for the transportation business that solves key tasks: dispatching, settlements, expense tracking, driver payroll, and real-time financial reporting.
Currently, over 300 transportation companies across the country are actively using our platform. Additionally, we have established partnerships with over 100 industry participants, including factoring companies, fuel and toll providers, freight brokers, and insurance agents. This data is integrated into our system, helping to optimize our clients' workflows.
Recently, we began gaining strong momentum in the large fleet segment and are now working with companies that have between 300 and 1,000 trucks.
Incubation Programs
We participated in several accelerators and attracted venture funding, successfully securing investments from funds supported by Microsoft and AWS. These programs provided us not only with capital but also with infrastructure, mentorship, and opportunities for initial partnerships.
Furthermore, we received support from local startup ecosystems in cities like Rochester and Chicago, which helped us expand in the early stages.
Challenges
One of the main challenges was convincing traditional transportation companies to adopt new technologies. Many still used Excel and outdated systems, and we had to invest significant effort in training users and creating an intuitive, understandable product. Acquiring the first 100 customers was particularly difficult, but once we reached that milestone, growth accelerated.
Another issue was finding strong engineers—competing with large tech companies made hiring difficult. We solved this problem by building a strong mission-driven culture and offering flexible remote roles to attract top specialists.
Advice for early-stage founders: collaborate closely with your initial users—they are your co-authors and partners. Do not be afraid to pivot or rework parts of your product. Feedback is more valuable than ego. If a customer gives you feedback—it is a blessing, as it means they are genuinely interested in your product.
