OpenAI announced the acquisition of Statsig, a startup specializing in A/B testing, feature flagging, and analytics for product teams.
The deal was valued at approximately $1.1 billion and will be fully paid in OpenAI stock. Upon completion of the deal, Statsig founder and CEO Vijay Raji will take on the role of Chief Technology Officer for Applications at OpenAI, overseeing the development of products such as ChatGPT and Codex, as well as infrastructure and quality systems.
The Statsig platform is already used by companies such as Atlassian, Notion, Brex, Bloomberg, and OpenAI itself. The acquisition marks one of the largest deals for OpenAI and follows the purchase of io Products, a startup founded by former Apple designer Jony Ive, for $6.5 billion in May 2025. Amid rising revenues — OpenAI reached an annualized revenue run rate of $12 billion in the first seven months of 2025 and projects up to $20 billion by year-end — the company is also preparing an offer to buy back shares from employees at a valuation of $500 billion.
