Streaming giant Netflix has opened a position for Director of Generative AI for Games in Los Angeles. The new head will be responsible for implementing generative artificial intelligence technologies in the company's gaming projects — from internal tools to interactive gaming features.
The candidate is required to have at least 10 years of experience in the gaming industry and a deep understanding of the full development cycle — from concept to support of the finished product. The salary is promised to be impressive — from $430,000 to $840,000 per year, plus a benefits package.
Previously, Netflix had already made attempts to establish itself in the gaming market: in 2021, the company was joined by former EA and Facebook executive Mike Verdu, who headed the gaming division. However, two years later, the gaming studio was closed, and no significant releases followed. Later, Netflix also ceased operations with the Night School studio, known for the game Oxenfree.
The new initiative focusing on AI could be Netflix's chance to restart its gaming direction using advanced technologies.
