The neural network has learned to recognize snow leopards in the Saylygem National Park.

Yandex Cloud, together with students from the School of Data Analysis, developed a neural network that recognizes 10 different species of animals in images and videos captured by camera traps in the national park. Among them are snow leopards, also known as irbis, which are listed in the Red Book.

The neural network identifies animals in photos dozens of times faster than a human. This technology will help scientists more effectively study snow leopards in their natural habitat and understand how to protect their population.
