On April 4, 2025, at an event celebrating the fifth anniversary of Microsoft Copilot, the early testing of a podcast generation feature was announced. The assistant creates dialogue shows from topics or materials, using synthetic hosts and a neural network engine. The feature will become available within a few weeks, and later it will be tested by corporate clients, mobile users, and developers via the API.
Microsoft Copilot has begun early testing of a new podcast generation feature that allows turning any topic or uploaded materials into a short dialogue show. The assistant creates a script for a conversation between two synthetic hosts. This approach makes listening dynamic and lively, replacing monotonous text reading.
The new feature was announced at an event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Microsoft Copilot on April 4, 2025. The feature allows creating personalized podcasts — from trip planning to reviews of scientific papers.
Operation is simple: the user selects a topic or pastes text, Copilot analyzes it, writes a script, voices it using a neural network engine, and launches the dialogue. Playback remains interactive — you can pause and ask a question, and Copilot adapts the conversation in real time.
Similar features have already been tested by Google NotebookLM and Spotify, and integration into Copilot makes Microsoft a competitive player and expands multimodal capabilities for millions of Windows and Bing users. According to initial feedback, quality currently lags behind Google's products, but this is still an important step.
The Copilot Podcasts feature will become available within a few weeks. Later this year, corporate clients, mobile users, and developers via API will be able to test it.
