Microsoft has launched a free Video Creator tool in the Bing mobile app, powered by OpenAI's Sora model. Users can generate up to three vertical 9:16 videos through the search bar, using standard mode or quick generation (10 free). Files are stored in the app for up to 90 days.
Microsoft announced the launch of Bing Video Creator, a new tool in the Bing mobile app that allows users to create short videos for free using OpenAI's Sora model.
Previously, this technology was available only to ChatGPT Plus subscribers, but now it is available for free in Bing. The tool is already available to users of the Bing mobile app on Android and iPhone, and will soon be available in the desktop version. Video creation is done through the Bing search bar, where you can enter a description of the desired video.
Users can generate up to three videos at once and receive notifications when they are ready. Microsoft offers two generation speed modes:
— standard, which is available for free to everyone
— fast, which allows you to create a video in a few seconds.
Each user gets 10 fast generations for free, after which they can use the standard mode or exchange 100 Microsoft Rewards points for accelerated video creation.
Videos are created in vertical 9:16 format, and support for horizontal 16:9 will be added later. Files are stored in the Bing app for up to 90 days, and can be downloaded or shared on other platforms.
Although Microsoft has showcased example videos, they currently lag behind some competitors in quality, such as Google's Veo 3. The animation sometimes appears incorrect, and the characters look somewhat simplified.
