On the sidelines of the international business conference on additive technologies, European AM Excellence Days, in the city of Hinnwil, a Framework Agreement on the establishment of a consortium was signed between Satbayev University and companies EOS GmbH and NORM Additive.
Within the framework of the consortium, it is planned to create a Center for Additive Technologies based on the Physical-Technical Institute in the city of Almaty. The parties intend to implement a pilot project to create a scientific and innovative center of competencies for working with materials such as polyamide and metal powders, which are used to produce various components on 3D printers of the company.
In the first stage, the parties plan to create an innovative center for technology transfer and competency development. The next stage involves the creation of a scientific and innovative center where the first small-sized products will be produced and tested. The third stage is the commercial production of specific components for certain companies. As the final stage of the company's activities in Kazakhstan, the study of materials, including polymers and their components, which can be used in industrial-scale production on 3D printers, is planned.
The potential of this project in the future will allow the creation of a niche industry in Kazakhstan with the production of high-value-added products that can compete in the global market, as there is a shortage of 3D manufacturers of high-quality parts.
