On April 27, the largest IT event for students in Kazakhstan took place in Almaty — Kolesa JunDay 2024. The event brought together more than 800 people. Most of the guests were students majoring in IT fields at Kazakh universities and junior specialists.
According to a study by Kolesa Group, university students are interested not only in job fairs. Conferences rank in the top 3 events most frequently attended by Kazakh students. Through conferences, they get acquainted with market trends and immerse themselves in IT culture.

At Kolesa JunDay’24, participants shared up-to-date information on trending IT areas: backend, product design, HR in IT, QA, development, product management, UX research, and DevOps.
Students also participated in various activities and won prizes.
The organizers aimed to help participants:
— learn firsthand about popular IT fields
— understand how to assess their skills and where to start their career path.

I came to JunDay for new knowledge and networking. Vyacheslav Legostin’s talk stood out. I especially liked the part of his presentation about how he found his first job thanks to a pet project.
