Chinese company Xpeng, known for its electric vehicles, has unveiled plans for the mass production of the humanoid robot IRON. At the Xpeng Technology Day 2025 event, company CEO He Xiaopeng announced that the robot will hit the market by the end of 2026.
IRON already demonstrated smooth movements resembling human gait, including "cat-like" steps, during the presentation. The robot's development took seven years, and engineers equipped it with complex joints and sensors that ensure precise movements. The design also incorporates high-level batteries and controllers that meet automotive industry standards.
Xpeng plans to use the robot in commercial sectors where tasks closely mimic human work, making IRON potentially useful across various industries.
