Kazakh green startup Ozen-M took second place in Vienna at the UNIDO competition

On June 6, as part of the global Cleantech Days 2024 forum held in Vienna, Austria, a green projects competition took place, where the Kazakh startup Ozen-M secured second place among 22 teams from around the world. The second project from Kazakhstan, Re-Compo, made it into the top-6 finalists list.

Ozen-M is a web application with an interactive map for tracking the condition of rivers and lakes in real time. The development allows users to schematically view the flow of the main river and its tributaries, as well as the location of key hydraulic structures in the river basin, for effective water resource management.

The finalist Re-Compo presented a project for recycling composite packaging from juices and milk into eco-friendly building materials, an alternative to standard OSB, MDF panels, and so on.

Cleantech Days is a global event by UNIDO, where finalists from the GCIP program from around the world were presented. Kazakhstan became the only country from which more than one startup reached the finals. In total, four projects from our country participated, all of them graduates of the GCIP Kazakhstan 2023 acceleration program and winners of grants totaling 3 million tenge.

GCIP Kazakhstan is a program promoting innovation in the field of clean technologies and entrepreneurship.
