Kazakhstani schoolchildren became four-time world champions in robotics

The national Kazakhstan robotics team has once again secured a stunning fourth consecutive victory at the FIRST Global Challenge 2025 World Championship in Panama City.

Competing against teams from 190 countries, the students won two top awards in the most prestigious categories:

GRAND CHALLENGE AWARD: the main award of the tournament, given to the absolute champions who set a record in the robot qualification games.

ALBERT EINSTEIN AWARD: the highest judging award for demonstrating outstanding engineering designs, technical skill, teamwork, and leadership. This prize is awarded for comprehensive excellence and innovation.

This year, the team roster, selected from 40 teams during the national selection process, included 9th and 10th-grade students from NIS Almaty — Medeu Dosymzhan Rashat, Daulet Ilyas, Alkhan Orynbasarov, Madiar Asetuly, and Nurassyl Tursymbaev. The coaches of the national team are Dulat Baytulenov, Nurdaulet Dosmagambet, and Asylbek Murzakhmetov.

Four consecutive victories at the World Championship — Geneva 2022, Singapore 2023, Greece 2024, and Panama 2025 — make Kazakhstan the absolute world leader in the international STEM education arena.

Asylbek Murzakhmetov, Head of USTEM Foundation
We have proven to the whole world that Kazakhstan is not only a country rich in resources but also a country of intellectual potential and high technologies. It is also important to note that the team composition has never been repeated — new participants go every year to defend the country's honor.

Recall that the theme of the championship, Eco-Equilibrium, was dedicated to solving global environmental problems and preserving biodiversity. The Kazakhstani team demonstrated a unique approach to ecosystem restoration by developing a robot capable of most effectively removing barriers that hindered the spread of life on the playing field, placing biodiversity units in different ecosystems with unprecedented accuracy, and successfully completing the complex final task that yielded the maximum number of points.
