Kazakhstan has transferred digital components of the e-government to Sierra Leone as part of the KazAID grant assistance. Under the Memorandum, the "Smart Bridge Service Showcase," "Unified Platform for Internet Resources of State Bodies," and the Smart Data Ukimet system have been transferred. The Kazakh delegation is assessing the country's ICT infrastructure digital maturity for further implementation of solutions.
As part of previously reached agreements, Kazakhstan will provide technical assistance in the development of the e-government of the Republic of Sierra Leone. The transfer of digital components of the e-government through grant assistance from KazAID took place at the Sierra Leone Innovates 2024 summit in Freetown.
The export of Kazakh IT solutions became possible as a result of a Memorandum of Cooperation previously signed between the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Communications, Technology and Innovation of the Republic of Sierra Leone. Under the agreement, the Kazakh side transferred the "Smart Bridge Service Showcase" service, the "Unified Platform for Internet Resources of Government Agencies," and the Smart Data Ukimet information and analytical system.
Currently, the Kazakh delegation is assessing the digital maturity of the country's ICT infrastructure for the successful future implementation of Kazakh IT solutions. This visit demonstrates a high level of trust in domestic developments and marks the expansion of the geographic presence of Kazakh digital solutions beyond the continent. This is the first African country where Kazakhstan is implementing official assistance for development.
To date, Kazakhstan holds high positions in international rankings in the field of e-government. According to the United Nations E-Government Survey, the country ranks 28th among 193 states in the E-Government Development Index and eighth in the Online Service Index.
Sierra Leone is a state in West Africa, rich in natural resources, including diamonds, gold, and titanium. The capital and largest city is Freetown. The population of Sierra Leone is approximately eight million people.
