The national team of Kazakhstan, with the support of Kaspi.kz, participated in the European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics. The world's largest competition in algorithmic programming for schoolgirls took place from July 14 to 20, 2025, in Bonn, Germany. This year, 226 participants from 60 countries across Europe, Asia, and other regions of the world took part in the olympiad.
Kazakhstan was represented at the olympiad by a team formed based on the results of the national selection:
Tamila Turganbaeva, 11th grade, NIS FMN, Astana
Alina Igzekova, 9th grade, FMLS, Kostanay
Aruzhan Baimukhambetova, 7th grade, Flagman School, Astana
Anita Isaeva, 9th grade, RFMS, Almaty
Team leaders: Adina Magavina and Temirlan Satylkhanov.
This year, the Kazakhstan team participated in EGOI remotely from Astana, officially approved by the olympiad's organizing committee. All rounds were conducted under the supervision and control of the EGOI organizers, in full compliance with international competition standards.
For all participants, this was their first experience taking part in an olympiad of such scale, making the results even more valuable: Kazakhstan won two bronze medals, brought home by Tamila Turganbaeva and Aruzhan Baimukhambetova.
Another significant outcome was the official recognition of Kazakhstan: starting from 2026, the country will be included in the list of official participating countries in EGOI. This became possible thanks to the long-term efforts of the team leaders, who consistently advocated for Kazakhstan's interests at the General Assembly of the olympiad over four years.
The European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics is an annual international competition aimed at supporting girls in studying computer science and overcoming the gender gap in the IT field. Kazakhstan has been participating in EGOI since 2021, and thanks to systematic work by the Federation, a strong and ambitious community of young female programmers has already been formed.
