Last week, the second free Datathon titled "Teach Artificial Intelligence to Read in Kyrgyz" took place in Bishkek. The winners were:
1st place — the Muras team
2nd place — the Attention team
3rd place — the Devs team.
The teams received $500, $300, and $200, respectively.
A total of 169 applications were submitted from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Russia, and 110 participants successfully formed 22 teams on-site.
The participants created a model that breaks down Kyrgyz words into morphemes. For example, аталар—> ата — ROOT, лар — AFFIX. In linguistics, this task is called morphological analysis of a word, while in AI, it is a classification task.
Creating such a model required minimal programming knowledge — specifically, Python.
The total prize fund of $1000 was provided by the hackathon partner, UlutSoft.
