Huawei announced plans to build the world's largest computer cluster using its own Ascend AI chips. The new supercomputer, named Atlas 950, will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2026 and will integrate over 520,000 processors.
According to the company's calculations, each system within the cluster will be 6.7 times more powerful than NVIDIA's upcoming NVL144. Overall, Atlas 950 will surpass the current record holder, xAI's Colossus supercomputer by Elon Musk, by approximately 1.3 times.
Looking ahead, Huawei intends to continue developing this direction: in 2027, the company plans to bring to market the next-generation cluster, Atlas 960, which will include over one million Ascend chips.
