AI startup Anthropic is in talks with Google to finalize an agreement for cloud computing services, which could be worth tens of billions of dollars.
Google will provide Anthropic with cloud computing services through its parent company, Alphabet. The deal is not yet finalized, but following the news, Alphabet's shares rose by 2.3% in after-hours trading.
Anthropic, backed by major investors such as Google and Amazon, is the developer of the chatbot Claude and competes with OpenAI's ChatGPT in the rapidly growing artificial intelligence market. The company forecasts more than double its annual revenue next year, driven by the rapid growth in demand for its corporate AI products. By the end of 2025, Anthropic plans to reach an annual revenue level of $9 billion.
This potential deal highlights the increasing demand for computing power for AI applications and intensifies competition among tech giants for cloud contracts with leading AI companies.
