At the international tech park Astana Hub, as part of the large-scale blockchain industry event Decentral Asia, teachers from 22 universities in the country received certificates for completing courses in blockchain engineering and blockchain compliance. The winners of Decentrathon — the largest blockchain hackathon in Central Asia, which took place from May 26 to 28 — were also awarded.
In total, as part of the University Outreach Program — an academic initiative in the field of blockchain — more than 350 teachers from 22 universities in the country received certificates. They underwent comprehensive training over 14 weeks in two programs: blockchain engineering and compliance. This is the first time in history that an academic course has been launched at the national level. By 2024, the plan is to reach more than 40,000 students across the country.
As a result of the largest multi-location hackathon Decentrathon, where talented Web3 enthusiasts from all over the country worked on developing product prototypes to solve blockchain-related issues over three days, Arman Sergazin from Almaty was recognized as the winner, receiving $5,000. The second place and $3,500 went to the Astana-based team Kumys-coin, while the Undefined team from Pavlodar received $1,500, taking third place.
Out of 250 participating teams, 40 teams submitted their work. This is a high indicator, as according to the organizers, the tasks were so difficult that even 10 submissions would have been considered very good.
During Decentral Asia, various topics were also discussed — digital currencies, decentralized finance, combating crypto crimes, and blockchain business model compliance.
