The digital tenge will be established as the national currency.
Author - Mansur Ismagulov
A bill has been submitted to the Mazhilis that for the first time establishes the status of the digital tenge as a form of national currency. The document also introduces regulation for digital financial assets, which include stablecoins, assets backed by underlying assets, and digital financial instruments such as stocks and bonds.
The issuance of digital financial assets will be carried out through licensed operators of digital platforms, and the assets themselves will be subject to requirements for risk management, information disclosure, and investor protection. Additionally, digital assets can be used as collateral for obtaining loans.
The bill aims to develop the digital economy and modernize Kazakhstan's financial infrastructure.
