Jack Dorsey, co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, has introduced a new app called Sun Day, designed to track time spent in the sun and vitamin D levels. This is Dorsey's second launch in the past week—he previously unveiled Bitchat, a messenger that operates without an internet connection.
Sun Day is available on iOS via TestFlight, and its source code is hosted on GitHub. The app uses geolocation data to display the local ultraviolet index and the duration of the day's sunlight.
Users specify their skin type and the extent of body coverage by clothing, then manually log periods spent in the sun. Based on this input, Sun Day calculates an estimated vitamin D synthesis level and informs users how long they can stay in the sun without risking sunburn.
The development is being carried out using Goose, an open-source tool with AI support. Such tools are becoming a crucial element of competitive dynamics in the artificial intelligence sector.
