Chinese company conducts parachute tests for air taxi to enhance passenger safety
For several years, flying car manufacturers have discussed ballistic parachutes as an emergency safety measure.
AeroHT has conducted the first such tests. Its system deploys four parachutes, which begin inflating 1.5 seconds after being ejected from the front of the eVTOL and fully deploy 1.5 seconds later. This allows the system to stabilize the aircraft before it flips and lower it safely to the ground.
The fully electric two-seater X2 air taxi can reach speeds of up to 130 km/h and altitudes of one kilometer. On a single charge, the aircraft can fly for up to 35 minutes.
