Adobe, an American company, announced the acquisition of the digital marketing platform Semrush, founded by Russian entrepreneurs. The deal was valued at $1.9 billion, with Adobe paying Semrush shareholders $12 per share. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026.
Semrush was founded in 2008 in St. Petersburg by Oleg Shchegolev and Dmitry Melnikov, and the company's headquarters was later moved to the United States. The company provides SEO and marketing services, and its clients include major brands such as Amazon and TikTok.
Following the announcement of the deal, Semrush's shares rose by approximately 75%, reflecting a positive market reaction. This acquisition marks one of Adobe's largest deals in the digital marketing sector since its attempt to acquire Figma in 2022.
The deal will enable Adobe to expand the capabilities of its marketing products and strengthen its position in the SaaS market for businesses.
