The Xiaomi factory will be able to operate 24 hours a day without human involvement

A new smartphone manufacturing plant in Changping, Beijing, is set to begin operations soon. It is referred to as a "dark factory" because it will be able to operate around the clock without human intervention. Machines will interact with each other and will also create a dust-free environment thanks to micron-level dust removal technology.

The plant will be controlled by intelligent machines developed in-house by Xiaomi. The production rate is one smartphone per second. Xiaomi has invested 2,400,000,000 yuan in this project.

The plant covers an area of 81,000 square meters. It is certified as a "national benchmark enterprise for smart manufacturing" with an annual production capacity of 10,000,000 flagship smartphones.
