Wise has added customizable eSIM plans and QR code payments in 7 countries, including Singapore, Brazil, and Thailand. Alipay+ payments are also available in more than 50 destinations without local apps. The update includes the ability to purchase lounge passes and tools for splitting bills.
International FinTech company Wise has added customizable eSIM plans and the ability to pay for purchases using QR codes in various countries to its app. The new features are designed to simplify travel and help users stay connected and pay for purchases without installing separate local payment apps.
Customizable eSIM plans are available to Wise customers in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area countries, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand. Users can independently choose the amount of mobile internet and the number of days they need. There is no need to reinstall the eSIM before each trip. If the purchased plan is not used, Wise promises to refund its cost. Mobile internet usage will begin after connecting to a supported network in the destination country.
In addition to individual plans, the app offers regional packages for more than 150 destinations.
The second feature allows users to pay for purchases via QR codes of local payment systems. Wise has integrated PayNow in Singapore, QR Ph in the Philippines, DuitNow in Malaysia, Pix in Brazil, PromptPay in Thailand, Swiss QR-bill in Switzerland, and Qvik in Hungary into the app.
Additionally, through a partnership with Ant International, users who meet the service conditions will be able to pay for purchases via Alipay+ in mainland China. For this, they will not need a Chinese bank card, a local phone number, or separate registration in a local app. The Alipay+ network covers more than 50 destinations, including Hong Kong, Nepal, South Korea, Sri Lanka, and Cambodia.
Other updates to Wise Account include the ability to buy one-time passes for airport business lounges, travel guides with tips for travelers, as well as tools for splitting bills and jointly tracking expenses during trips.
