Whoop raised $575 million and reached a valuation of $10 billion
The American company Whoop, which produces wearable devices for tracking health and physical activity, has raised $575 million in a Series G funding round. The company's valuation reached $10.1 billion — nearly three times higher than the previous $3.6 billion.
The round was led by Collaborative Fund. Among the investors are major institutional players, including Mubadala Investment Company, Qatar Investment Authority, as well as medical giant Abbott and Mayo Clinic.
Well-known athletes and celebrities also joined the round, including Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James, Rory McIlroy, Reggie Miller, and Niall Horan.
Since its founding, Whoop has raised approximately $900 million in investments.
Founder and CEO Will Ahmed noted that the partnership with Abbott signals a strategic expansion into medical technology, although details have not yet been disclosed.
According to him, last year the company achieved an annual booking volume of $1.1 billion, a 103% increase compared to the previous year. This figure reflects the combined cash flows from device sales and subscriptions — a key metric for a business combining hardware and a subscription model.
Whoop plans to use the raised funds for hiring employees, marketing and brand development, research and development, and international expansion.
Amid the rising valuation, questions have arisen about a potential stock market listing. However, Ahmed stated that the company is only preparing for this step, carrying out "necessary preparatory work," without specific timelines for an IPO.
