White Hill Capital, the management company of Tumar Venture Fund, announced the addition of a new investor to the fund — Yango Ventures, the corporate venture fund of the Yango Group, the parent company of Yandex Qazaqstan. Partners hope that the collaboration will create conditions for more systematic development of the startup ecosystem in the country, combining the fund’s investment expertise with Yango Group’s international experience. This represents a new model for supporting innovation in Kazakhstan.
Aslan Sultanov, Managing Partner and CEO of White Hill Capital
It is important to us that a team with deep understanding of the technology markets in dozens of countries has joined the fund. Yango Ventures’ confidence demonstrates that our work is delivering results: we are creating value and shaping an environment where startups can grow faster. This is the first time in the country that an international technology group has invested in a venture management company rather than in individual startups. This decision reflects the growing interest of major technology players in the Central Asian market.
Yango Ventures is the corporate venture fund of the technology company Yango Group. The fund focuses on early-stage startups — from Seed to Series B — in the O2O, B2B SaaS, and FinTech sectors. The fund launched with a capital of $20 million, with plans to expand its investment base in the future.
