Higher Education in IT: An Overview of Esil University

Esil University is a leading university in Astana with more than twenty years of development history. The university's mission is to train competitive, highly qualified specialists for the smart economy and entrepreneurial activities. Graduates work in government agencies, IT centers, and capital city banks, joint-stock companies, and international corporations.

Faculty

60.2% of the teaching staff hold academic degrees. The university trains students in 21 bachelor's specialties through full-time and distance learning, 10 master's specialties, and four doctoral specialties.

Dual Degree Program

The university operates a dual-degree education program in collaboration with Kangnam University in South Korea, the European University in Switzerland, and Final University in Northern Cyprus.

Over four years, Esil University students can obtain two diplomas, one of which will be from a foreign university.

University History

In 1999, the capital branch of Narhoz — KazEU — was founded. Subsequently, it was known as the Kazakh University of Economics, Finance, and International Trade.

In 2022, the university underwent rebranding based on a new development vision. KazUEFIT became Esil University. Along with the new name, it sets new goals on the path to leadership among the largest universities in Kazakhstan.

Student Organizations

Student clubs operate at the university: Esil Media Club, Esil International Office, Esil Sports Club, Esil Art Studio, and Esil IQ Lab. Additionally, Tiktok Studio Esil operates at the university, featuring its own recording and sound studio, as well as pavilions with six different themes.

Employment

More than 85% of Esil University graduates find employment after completing their studies. According to the NPP "Atameken" rating, almost all educational programs of the university have entered the top university educational programs in Kazakhstan.

At the Department of "Information Systems and Technologies," various disciplines are taught. These include applied programming, machine learning, information system and network development, data management, information system development and administration, web programming, and others.

Research Laboratories

The department has two research laboratories: "Computing Technology and Automation of Production Processes" and "Problems of Information System Management," as well as three specialized educational laboratories: "Corporate Application Development," "Network Communications," and "Computer System Interface Development," equipped with modern computers and software.

Students can complete internships at leading industry organizations and research centers, including the department's foreign partners.
