A new IT program is launching at universities in Kyrgyzstan.

An agreement was signed to establish a consortium of seven higher education institutions in the country and the American IT school DevX.

DevX, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, is launching an 18-month IT training program at seven universities in Kyrgyzstan. The instructors are leading specialists from the United States working at companies such as Apple, Meta, and Microsoft. Since the training will be conducted in English, the first two months will be dedicated to intensive English language study as well as the basics of programming. Subsequently, students will be able to choose one of seven IT specializations, with an additional 6 months allocated for each: Product Owner, UX/UI design, Full-stack, Java developer, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), DevOps, Data Science and Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity.

Training at DevX is based on practical knowledge with minimal theory. From the first day, students will learn product development methodologies used in global practice. In addition to IT technical skills, they will acquire soft skills that will help them succeed in any interview.

The university added that after obtaining their profession, the next eight months will be spent in the DevX accelerator, during which they will develop specific projects—startup products instead of thesis works.

The Ministry of Education reported that the consortium includes the Kyrgyz State Technical University, Osh State University, Issyk-Kul State University, Jalal-Abad State University, Naryn State University, Talas State University, and Batken State University.
