When artificial intelligence becomes a real coach

Big ideas rarely emerge during meetings. More often, they appear quietly—between tasks, in notes, and in conversations. This is how the story of a project called AI Coach began.
The goal was not to create a new chatbot. The task was different—to test whether artificial intelligence could become something real. Not a soulless algorithm, but an assistant that notices, supports, and inspires.
Vladislav Dmitriev became the project’s lead designer. It was he who proposed combining technology with human warmth. His idea was simple: make digital support feel alive and genuinely attentive.

How It All Started
The team was working on a yoga app. It was popular, including in Kazakhstan, but the data showed the same pattern: users would start practicing, complete a few workouts—and then disappear.
The reason wasn’t bugs or complexity. People simply lacked a sense of presence. You open the app, look at the screen—and feel like you’re practicing alone.
So the team asked themselves: what if a person felt like someone was nearby, even if it was just an app?
How the Idea Became Reality
The project had no budget, deadlines, or plan. There was only a curious thought. Designers and researchers together imagined what a digital coach could look like.
They took video from a real instructor, added personalized goals, and included tips that changed based on progress. Thus was born a coach who doesn’t just give commands but offers support.
When the prototype was shown, users returned to the app more frequently. Some even wrote that the coach seemed alive.

What Changed After the Experiment
The idea proved contagious. Teams working on other areas—fitness, meditation, nutrition—began creating their own versions of the coach. Some added pace-related advice, others added mood-based support.

It was a quiet effect. One small idea changed how we think about presence in digital products.
Now in Kazakhstan
The yoga app, where the first “Digital Coach” appeared, is now available in the Kazakhstan App Store. Users from Almaty, Astana, and other cities can be among the first to try features that create a sense of genuine support.

The Main Takeaway
The project didn’t become a standalone product, but it changed the team’s approach to all their work. Now, before every new development, the same question is asked: does the user feel supported?
AI Coach proved that even artificial intelligence can be kind and human.
