Uzbekistan has approved the first ethical guidelines for artificial intelligence.
The Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan has registered a document establishing ethical rules for the creation, implementation, and use of artificial intelligence technologies.
The document introduces basic principles that developers and users of artificial intelligence systems must follow. These include legality, protection of the interests of individuals, society, and the state, accountability, data protection, as well as reliability and security of technologies.
Developers and implementers of AI systems must inform users that:
— how and for what purposes AI systems can be used, or when their use is prohibited
— AI-based decisions may not always be correct
— results can only be used as recommendations or for informational purposes.
The new order was officially entered into the state register on March 14, 2026, under number 3787. Additionally, the rules establish the rights and obligations of participants involved in the development and use of artificial intelligence technologies.
