The first university of artificial intelligence will be established in Kazakhstan.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the creation of a specialized research university in the field of AI during the first meeting of the Council for the Development of Artificial Intelligence. The new institution will receive a special status and become a center for science, education, innovation, and international cooperation.

The main goal of the project is to train a new generation of engineers, researchers, and entrepreneurs capable of integrating AI into all sectors of the economy. The university is planned to be established in partnership with leading global universities, and its operations will be integrated with the national system of digital student profiles.

The educational institution should be granted a special status. It is also important to involve the best global universities as partners in this work. I instruct the Government to prepare concrete proposals by the end of the year. There may be a question about why Kazakhstan needs a new university of this profile. The main goal is to train qualified specialists who will implement artificial intelligence technologies across all sectors of the economy. The research university should function as a center for science, education, innovation, and international communication. Today, competition in the global knowledge and technology market is extremely high. Therefore, talented youth should have the opportunity to receive high-quality world-class education not only abroad but also in their own country. The future of Kazakhstan depends on this.

The creation of the AI university will be a key step in implementing the strategy to transform Kazakhstan into a digital country and strengthen human capital in the context of global technological competition.
