The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Starlink, a subsidiary of SpaceX, have signed an agreement ensuring that Starlink complies with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan when providing satellite internet services within the country.
The document provides for the official launch of sales of Starlink satellite terminals for the population of Kazakhstan — the start is expected already in the third quarter of 2025.
The implementation of the project will be an important step in providing high-speed satellite internet to remote and hard-to-reach regions of the country. This will strengthen digital connectivity and create new opportunities for the development of telecommunications infrastructure.
Thanks to connection via Starlink, access to quality communication will be available to rural schools, medical institutions, mobile groups, and infrastructure facilities, especially in those areas where laying fiber optic networks is economically or technically difficult.
Of particular importance is the legalization and official status of using Starlink equipment: now citizens will be able to legally purchase, use, and register terminals in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Connection to Starlink satellite internet will be carried out through user equipment. Currently, the technical and organizational conditions are being agreed upon, including the parameters of service provision for private users.
All stages of the project implementation will take place in compliance with national legislation, including security requirements.
The initiative is implemented as part of the execution of the directive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on reducing the digital divide between the city and the countryside and corresponds to the goals of the national project "Accessible Internet."
