In Kazakhstan, the first supercomputer cluster in Central Asia with a performance of approximately two exaflops on NVIDIA H200 chips has been launched. The project was implemented in collaboration with Presight (G42) and is located in a Tier III data center of the MCIAP. The initiative, aimed at developing the national AI ecosystem, includes the exemption of equipment from duties and VAT, ensuring access to computing power for startups, universities, and research centers.
Its performance is approximately two exaflops. This is the first supercomputer cluster in the history of the Central Asian region. It is built on the latest NVIDIA H200 graphics chips, specifically designed for artificial intelligence and high-performance computing tasks.
The launch and installation of the supercomputer will take place in a new Tier III reliability data center of the MCRIAP to ensure uninterrupted and stable operation. Its launch is also an important step in implementing the President's Address on creating its own digital infrastructure and developing the national AI ecosystem. The initiative is aimed not at a narrow circle of specialists, but at the development of the entire digital ecosystem of the country. Today, they are applied in all spheres, particularly in healthcare, energy, education, and public services.
It is also important that the supercomputer's resources will be accessible to everyone. Startups needing computing power for training neural networks, universities conducting fundamental and applied research, scientific centers, and companies implementing AI in business processes will be able to connect to it.
The delivery of the supercomputer has opened the way to developing the high-performance computing ecosystem in Kazakhstan. It is worth noting separately that with this delivery, Kazakhstan has for the first time established a mechanism for importing high-tech equipment without duties and VAT.
During the official visit to Kazakhstan of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ceremonial opening of the overseas office of Presight, G42 took place in Astana. During the visit, an agreement was signed on the creation of a supercomputer cluster in the Republic of Kazakhstan between the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Presight.
This project is an important element of the practical implementation of the Concept for the Development of Artificial Intelligence until 2029 and one of the key stages in forming modern IT infrastructure in Kazakhstan.
